Topic Name- "Attention And Concentration"
People want to concentrate on everything they do so that they can become highly productive, almost like a machine. They want to see nothing else-not the world, not other people, not nature. They want to become completely one-pointed.
This is actually quite easy. Keep doing the same task repeatedly, and the mind gradually becomes absorbed in it. Repeat a word or a thought over and over, and the mind becomes concentrated.
Concentration simply means that you are in a room, deeply engaged in a task, and if something significant happens in the next room, you remain completely unaware of it.

| Attention And Concentration |
Concentration always has an object. It always has a center. If that object is not present, what happens to us? You may read a book with great concentration, but if you find nothing rewarding in it, you may never feel like reading it again. Someone may remain intensely concentrated while playing a video game, yet be unable to focus on a book. Concentration is limited by the object upon which it depends. In that sense, concentration is a limitation of the mind.
But attention is wholeness.
Imagine sitting in a room. You hear the sound of the fan, feel the breeze coming through the window, notice people talking outside, and at the same time, the book is with you. You are also aware of what is happening within your mind and body. You are fully awake, fully aware.
In attention, you are not trying to hold the mind on any particular object. You are simply aware. You are completely conscious.
Whether you are eating, talking, listening, or walking, there is a state of total awareness. There is no object to which the mind is bound. There is only attention and the state of effortless Action.
